How to Use Video for Marketing Online

While some marketers are happy to put their videos on YouTube and leave it at that, you can generate more traffic by pursuing other video repository sites.

There are literally hundreds of these sites available (although approximately 20 probably account for 90% of the overall activity. You can set up accounts with all appropriate distribution channels and then use a free web-based tool like TubeMogul to submit your video to all of the major players.

In order for your video to drive traffic, it needs to create a bridge between it and your site. That’s generally done in the video description at the distribution sites, which almost always offers a chance to create a live link back to your site.

Additionally, it’s a good idea to clearly display your URL during the video. While typing in a URL is far more labor-intensive than clicking a link, it can help considerably.

You’re going to develop a healthy flow of traffic from the videos themselves, but you’ll also secure some level of SEO advantage with widespread distribution.

Though many video directory sites utilize “no follow” links, a handful of the better ones will allow for “do follow” links.

Oh, and remember how we discussed the potential value of completing your profiles on websites you’ve joined? There’s no better example than these video distribution sites.

Almost all of them have profile pages that allow links to your site and in some cases those links are “do follow” even when the video descriptions links aren’t.

Do you need to have an Academy Award winning director’s eye for film to make a good video? Not even close. With a fistful of relevant stock photos, some smart captioning and a track of royalty-free music, you can create videos that will deliver traffic to your site.

If you haven’t made the jump to video, now is the time. This is one area that will continue to heat up and you’ll be glad you developed the necessary foothold and skills–not to mention all of the traffic you garnered in the process.

Video Tip 1: Are you camera shy? Start working on a way to get over it! People naturally respond better to videos featuring the person with the message.

Learn to get comfortable in front of your webcam. That will allow creating almost instant videos for use whenever the need arises–even on extremely short notice.

Video Tip 2: Don’t just assume that everything is hunky dory with your video because the source file looked good when you reviewed it.

Videos will often suffer compression problems and other damages to quality during the conversion process. Be certain that your finished upload looks just right!

Video Tip 3: Keep it short unless you’re very good. All of the online video research indicates that attention levels drop DRAMATICALLY after about 35 seconds.

The only exceptions are particularly interesting or entertaining videos. If yours is more “run of the mill” (and you can still get good results from that), keep the video at 35 seconds or less.

So, how to put all this into practice?

Don’t worry if you know nothing about Video marketing or have been unable to make video marketing work for your business, there is a simple answer…

Unless you have been hiding under a rock then you know Sean Donahoe’s “Video Assassin” course released early in 2009 was one of the most successful video marketing courses ever released. Video Assassin received much critical acclaim from Video marketing experts and top Internet marketers across the world who all agreed “Video Assassin hit’s the Bullseye!”
